Chia Hwee Huang, volunteer nurse for the Society of Continence (Singapore), conducted in-service training programmes in 15 nursing homes for 2008. Ms Chia taught the latest techniques and methods available to manage incontinence for the elderly. The programme was enthusiastically welcomed by the nursing homes, as they are keen to learn how to manage incontinence so that the residents can benefit and improve their comfort and confidence.
Statistics showed that seventy percent of nurses who attended this programme proclaimed that the course has broadened their existing knowledge and skills needed to improve their work. Meanwhile, sixty percent of attendees declared that they would recommend this course to their colleagues and friends and fifty two percent of them mentioned that the course objectives met their expectations.
